One of the parking structures where I work at 5pm. Hmm, looks like Spring Break has arrived!

Patience - yeah, that thing Axl Rose was singing about...

I wonder where the phrase "learn to be patient" came from. Because I am not a patient person, and when I get frustrated I often find my inside voice saying that. Then I typically roll my eyes and ask "what in the hell does that mean?" Most of the time when I hear that phrase it's essentially telling someone to learn to not get what they want when they want it. So, why would we say that to someone?? We live in a society where things are expected to be achieved and attained quickly and we are rewarded for being ahead of schedule.

I am a firm believer in taking a step back from a problem to get a new perspective on a challenge, but this is far from being patient. Instead, the equivalent cliche would be something like "learn to take a methodical approach to making an objective."

I guess that doesn't have the same ring to it when said aloud, and maybe there in lies the answer to my question.
